Smart locks and new lock installation

Keypad and app-controlled deadbolts, high-security cylinders with keys that can't be copied, and plain solid deadbolts on doors that never had one. Supplied, installed, paired and keyed to match your other doors.

How an installation runs

  1. Which door, and what it's made of

Front, garage-side, patio, basement. Wood, steel, fibreglass or aluminum, and whether it already has a bore for a deadbolt. Describe it when you call and the technician brings the right hardware.

  2. Three tiers, one recommendation

A solid Grade 2 deadbolt, a high-security restricted-key cylinder, or a smart lock with a keyed backup. We say which one fits the door and the neighbourhood, and why.

  3. Installed and paired

Fitted to the existing bore where possible, strike reinforced with 3-inch screws, app or keypad set up before we leave.

  4. Codes, keys and a walkthrough

Codes for family, cleaner and guests, a keyed backup that matches your other doors, and two minutes on what to do when the battery warning appears.

Do smart locks survive a Montréal winter?

Some do. Battery chemistry, a keypad that works with gloves, a keyed backup you can de-ice, and a deadbolt that still throws when the door has swollen in November all matter more than the app. We install the models we have seen survive several winters, and we say no to the ones that have not.
